View Full Version : Alpine Stereo (Harness Issues)

I just purchased an Alpine MP3 Player but i'm having some trouble installing it.

This is a fairly expensive Alpine stereo (which comes into play later).

I attempted to wire it, and here are the wires that are coming out of the harness:

Remote, Ground, Power, Accessory. There are no speaker wires at all. The only way to wire the speakers in is to use the front and rear preouts included.

Now I know that many higher end decks require external amplifiers to power the speakers, but i'm wondering why this alpine has an internal amplifier (60x4) and no speaker wires, only preouts.

On the wiring harness, it has 9 empty spaces where the 8 speaker wires SHOULD be, and another that i'm not aware of. On the wiring diagram in the manual/on the stereo, the empty spaces have no printed description of what wires go there.

EG.

1 - Constant
2 - Ground
3 - Remote
4 - Ignition
5 -
6 -
7 -
8 -
9 -
10 -
11 -
12 -
13 -

From 5-13, there are no descriptions of what wiring should exist in the empty harness.

I hope this isn't too confusing...

what model is it?

maybe you just got the wrong harness with it. ie 7998 harness instead of the 7898 harness

It's the 7995. Any ideas where I could find another harness? I'm thinking Ebay is the easiest and cheapest way to go about it, since almost every store I called in Calgary has to special order it.http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid59/pa0be60b6e485a57c682742fa4e91b977/fc5af401.jpg

uhm if it's the 7995 it has no internal amp...

the 78*'s have internal amps
79* don't
preout only

Ok i'm an idiot, just read more into it and this deck has no internal amp. I have NO CLUE where I saw 60x4 printed on it, because I can't find it anymore...

True, i've always wanted a deck like this, but there are features i'll probably never understand :)

Anyways, now my next question:

I have a cheap 4 channel amp sitting around (240watts, perfect). I already have another amp wired for my sub, but i'm wondering if I can just tap power off of the original power wire, run two more sets of RCA's, a ground, and return speaker wire back to the dash area to hook up to my speakers from there (cleaner, and easier to locate since they are already waiting for me).

that'd work fine as long as the power wire is big enough.
you could wire it into a fuseblock and split it there(the best way to do it)

http://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp has a chart of cable size

use distrobution blocks for the power and ground. You can run a length of remote from your other amp to this one too. Run your rca's to the trunk, and run speaker wire to the speakers too.
