View Full Version : WTB: Wide angle lens for Canon DSLR
I'm interested in buying a cheap AF wide angle zoom lens for a Canon DSLR. at least 18mm wide. wouldn't mind one of those 18-55mm kit lens if you have one lying around. I may consider prime lenses as well.
lens must to be in good working condition with no damage on the glass.
Please PM me with details of what you got and the price you want for it.
Thanks

Wide angle lens (18mm and wider) don't come cheap, and wide primes are even more expensive generally.
I wouldn't consider the 18-55 a great wide angle lens.:dunno:
there's a kit lens on FM right now for $60 CAD
I'll check that kit lens out, thanks. anyone have anything else?
I realize wide angle lenses don't come cheap. but i don't need anything razor sharp as i already have something for that. that's why i'm cosidering the kit lens ;)

What camera are you using it on?
Remember if you are using a DSLR then you have to multiply the zoom by 1.6. that means 18mm will become 27mm. (you lose the wide angle)
If you have a Film SLR then that 18-55mm kit lens will not fit because it is a digital lens (EF-S, white dot instead of red dot)
And if you have the 5D DSLR it will not take EF-S lens....

Thanks for the review Pihsiak.
I think i have all those crop factor and fitment issues under control.
I think I still hv the sigma 18-35mm F3.5-4.5 lens .. it is better then the canon 18-55 kit lens, and it is a FF lens .. :)
PM'd.
i have a wide zoom and some items here (http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&postid=1785759#post1785759) that might interest you.
