who makes those magnetic vinyl type things, you put on the side of cars, whether a logo or something, magnetic so it can be peeled off and put back on as many times as i wish.

let me know

I would think Silent Rage would have a line on that sort of stuff, or know where to go for it...

The hard part is getting the magnetic material, any vinyl shop can take care of numbers and colors. A few people from the sports car club have them, post on the CSCC board as well.

Don't forget about the class letters as well.

do those have to be 10" aswell? i was also thinking about getting my name done and a flag for my rear window, can i put the class there?

also, they have to classify me first, i was in DSP temporarily, they're thinking of putting me in DSS, will i go up the rankings then? i'm new to that PAX thing, got a guide for newbies?

thanks

The class letter - I'm not sure what size. These are secondary so I'm not sure on the size. Check www.cnacsolo.ca or www.wcma.ca

The car numbers are to be 20 cm or bigger (or 10" or more)

As for PAX - tons of info on the net which would explain it better than I could. (Aim for Fastest Time of the Day - heh) Looks like I'll competition this year :D

The best place for resource is:

Here's how PAX works.

You run your time of 52 seconds. That's your raw time. You use this for bragging rights :).

Your car is grouped into a specific class based on what modifications you do. Each "class" has a group of cars that perform pretty similar. There's a PAX index or factor for every class which equalizes the field when multiplied against your raw time, allowing people in slower cars to compete against faster cars, taking the car out of the equation and leaving it all to driver skill (what the championship is about).

So theoretically speaking, if I ran as fast as I can in my SLK 32 (AS), then ran as fast I can in my SLK 320 (BS), take the 2 raw times and multiply it against the PAX index for AS and BS respectively, the PAX'd time should be identical because it's the same driver.

Of course it's not perfect, and there will be certain cars that stand out (current it's the Minis in HS).

Now, you've made modifications to your car that put you in DSP... in DSP you're allowed 15 prep points, so in order to be competitive in a DSP class, you have to make use of all your mod points (the PAX index is based on fully modded cars). I had this problem last year in my SLK 320 because I had springs, and it put the car in ASS, so I took the springs out which dropped me back to stock.

If you're thinking of being competitive, I would suggest reading thru the rules, and deciding which class you would be most competitive in. It's the cheapest to be competitive in stock class, so it might make sense to unmod everything. In stock class, u cant do much (air filters, r compound tires, shocks). Next would be the SS class, where you have 8 (or was it 7) prep points to work with on mods. SP is tough because you have 15 points to work with, so the rules/PAX index expect you to be 2 or 3 seconds faster than you are stock with 15 prep points worth of mods.

Hope that clears things up :).

Here's the PAX index's we're using this year :

Class PAX Class PAX Class PAX Class PAX
SS 0.837 ASS 0.842 ASP 0.867 AM 1.000
AS 0.828 BSS 0.836 BSP 0.861 BM 0.939
BS 0.825 CSS 0.835 CSP 0.860 CM 0.891
CS 0.814 DSS 0.814 DSP 0.838 DM 0.899
DS 0.795 ESS 0.822 ESP 0.847
ES 0.804 FSS 0.811 FSP 0.835
FS 0.806
GS 0.782
HS 0.778

As for where your car sits, it's only officially listed in the stock category as HS. The DSS and DSP classes are more for the gasoline Golfs, which should be quite a bit faster than you, making you uncompetitive in that class.

Now, let's do some bench racing.

You ran a 52 sec. run... the Mini's are in HS and ran in the 51 sec range on Wed night. If you throw some R compound tires on your car, you'll probably gain about 2 seconds (50 sec run). If you unmod your car to compete in stock, you'll lose about a second from the suspension, and another second from the additional TQ that you gained, leaving you in the 52 second mark. Which means you should be very competitive in HS.
