Hi friends,

I am looking for a mini van and I was just wondering what are the pros and cons of buying it from dealer and private. Which Van do you recommend? I personally love the ODYSSEY but it is too expensive.

Thanks ,

If you wanna get one for cheap go to Regal Auctions, its just off Barlow by the Calgary Casino, they always have a crap load of Mini-Vans that go for really cheap. They dont have to many old ones, but they got a hell of alot of newer models.

A used car dealer, will lie, cheat, and rip you off. If you go that route GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING, AND CHECK THE PAPERWORK TWICE. I swear it's almost worth bringing a lawyer if your buying from a used lot.

Thanks all for the reply. I live in Ontario so I will not have the luxury to go to Calgary for the auction:(. I will probably stick with private and made sure to get it inpected before purchase.

Thanks again.

Private for sure, as long as you get carproof or carfax done and the car inspected then you are pretty much set. If you go through dealer there also be tax you have to pay. which adds up fast. Used car dealerships are pretty much the worst business you can deal with.

imo the seinna is a great choice for minivan.

^ Agree with the above post, go private save the mark-up and GST.

You can have just as many problems buying privately as you would with a used car lot. Make sure you check the car out thoroughly before you buy it. Usually the "good deals" are "good deals" for a reason. Paying a bit extra up front will go a long way in the future.

Do some research on the vehicle you intend to buy and see what are the prone maintenance problems. I've had vehicles where that didn't come into play, and I've had others where they said the tranny was prone to going at 100k and what-do-ya-know, it happened. I could have set my watch to it.

So when going used it's always a good thing to take a look at. Think about why people get rid of minivans. It's not because a family usually wants to spend more money a month, it's prbably because they're looking for more reliability, which is why they unloaded that one. Of course, shit goes much deper than that, but just keep your eyes open man.
