Well, unfortunatley after moving to a new house, I just don't have the space to store/work on what I had hoped to be a fun project. Car is as follows ****car is located in Red Deer****:
1985 Dodge Omni GLHT. The car runs, and is drivable. It says it has around 55,000kms on the odo (however, it only goes to 99,999kms, so I'd say more like 155,000kms. The car has sat for the past 5 years AFAIK). The car is rough, however, it is all there, and the really good thing is that it is relatively rust free! The motor is SUPER strong, with a compression of 160 all across with the fuel pump relay unplugged. Tranny seems fine (really nice clutch in it, grabs well and smoothly), however, the shifter is MUSH (common problem), the joints on the linkage have a tendency to pop off (this has been fixed with Mopar's clips), and second gear does not like to engage. Comes with a gi-nourmous 2 1/2" (mabye 3", I don't know) autometer boost gauge, as well as a 5Zigen steering wheel. Brakes work well, albiet a bit mushy (feels like they just need to be bled). Comes with 14" steelies with Michelin X-Ice winter tires mounted (tons of tread left).
The only real problems with this car are that A) it smokes ALOT, due to a bad turbo seal (I have a turbo that doesn't smoke included with the car, its sitting right next to me). The car also comes with a OEM Mopar (not felpro, napa, etc) headgasket, as well as headbolts and valve cover gaskets. B) The other problem is that the car is SLAMMED on cut stock springs, and the struts are pretty much toast. C) The only rusty part of the car is the rear hatch, it should be replaced, and the weather stripping doesn't seal well.
The car would make a great project for somebody looking for an inexpensive way to go fast in a straight line. It is a rarity, an oddball, and even to this day many people are confused when they get the doors blown off their car by a four door Omni. I am looking for $500 FIRM. Not much negotiating room (there is always a little), but I am sincerely just trying to get my money back out of the car with the parts I am including. I am also willing to trade for Sprint/Firefly turbo parts and/or cars as well as Suzuki Swift GT(i) parts and/or cars. Pics are here (yes, the hood is popped open, and no, the momo wheel does not come with the car as it was given back to the original owner, and finally, I cannot wash it as it is not registered/insured atm ;) ) !
