Gears of War hits a million sold..

Microsoft has just announced that Gears of War has sold 1 million copies worldwide in just its first two weeks of release, elevating the game to the fastest-selling title of 2006 and fastest-selling original Xbox game of all time.

The game has also become the most-played Xbox Live game as more than 850,000 unique gamers have engaged in 10 million gameplay sessions while unlocking an impressive 7 million Achievements. Microsoft also believes that the game has driven new members to the network, as paid registrations per day have skyrocketed more than 50 percent since the game’s launch.

"From the very beginning, we knew ‘Gears of War’ would be an industry-defining hit," said Shane Kim, corporate vice president at Microsoft Game Studios.
"As we watched both the game and its hype grow, it became obvious that ‘Gears of War’ was the rare title that could live up to such incredible anticipation, and judging from the reaction of critics and fans, it’s done just that."

Fastest selling. Not total copies sold.

But GoW will probably beat that record too until Halo 3 comes out.

I usually cannot play 3rd person view games but Gears of War pulls off the camera angles perfectly. After playing this game in 3rd person, I couldn't imagine playing it in first person (dodging for cover would be pretty hard in first person haha).

I don't know if it's just me, but I felt the game could have been a little longer. When I got to Raam, I didn't even realize he was the last boss.

The game completely sucked me in wanting more!! Can't wait until the sequel!

I played Gears of War for the first time on 1080i... very, very impressive. I say it's the best looking game I've ever seen in person. I knew I should've took advantage of that Future Shop deal on the 17th of November!

I made the mistake of not bringing in the torque bow for the final battle with RAAM. Fighting him with the chainsaw gun and sniper rifle takes twice as long. Gonna try insane.:)

Im pretty sure halo 3 will out-sell gears of war. And by pretty sure i mean it will. More people will have 360 already, and its on of the most anticipated games ever (next to halo 2 and GoW of course). Obviosly me being a halo fan boy, im gonna be first in line at midnight to pick mine up and play it for however many straight hours.

3rd person in gears of war is amazing, its not really a 3rd person view as you go into a 1st person view when your shooting, pretty sweet game though, best game released for 360 yet for sure.

I think it will do 5 million. There is a price drop on 360 coming after Christmas and probably a bundle pack.
