just wondering when the car is remotely started, does it run on the car battery? Does the alternator kick in to charge it as well.

I noticed that when I start the car remotely, the radio or other electonics do not start til I insert the car keys.

Yes, the battery is used and the alternator runs as normal. I'm not sure why the radio/stereo doesn't kick in, though.

it's because they don't usually hook up the accessory wire in the car that runs the radio/cig lighter. they only hook up one acessory wire for the heater blower.

i think it has something to do with the ignition sensor, but it's used energy

Thanx guys, I was worried that if I had it started too long it might drain the battery.

yeah dont worry its just the accessory, some vehicles have 2 accessory circuits, heater/blower runs off of one, and stereo/cig lighters run off the second one, no harm to the vehicle at all!

You shouldn't have to worry about the battery dying, its not like you are letting it idle and sit for hours and hours. I know with some remote starts they have a certain period of time they can run for before they tune off. I have a Compustar and its set for 15 mintues, and if I am not out there with the key in the car will shut off. The other beyonders are right you don't need to worry.

ps it wouldnt drain the battery as the engine is on, hence, alternator is running as it should be if you were idling with the key in the ignition :)
