new to the PVR game. What kind of HD do I need to buy? Is it as simple as plug and play? Or is there some config needed?

If it is anything like Tivo, you have to copy the existing data from the old to the new hardrive. Involves plugging both drives into your PC. Pretty Bell runs linux like Tivo does, so it involves mounting and unmounting drives.

You likely need to know a little something to do it... not quite plug and play.

Yup, you do have to copy info over. Plug and play just doesn't work since the PVRs have special software installed on the drives. Just be carefull if you do it yourself. I know with Tivo if you put the drive in a windows PC it will lock up. You have to make sure you aren't running windows at the time!

There is one place in Canada that will do it for you. If you have Tivo you can always go to www.thepvrsource.com and get them to upgrade your drive. That's what I did. Easy as pie without the hassle. Hope this helps.
