Oh yeah baby!!! _I just picked up two 12" Sony Subs:

I already have an Elemental Designs 16ov.2 sub (15", up to 1100Wrms). _This setup will be run from a Digital Audio DA2800 amp (560Wrms*1@4Ohms or 200Wrms*x@4Ohms). The eD16ov.2 was installed already but I took it out, I think that these two Sonys at 200Wrms each in the vented box will pound harder than the 560Wrms in a sealed box. _Either way, the eD is staying out until I get an amp that can do at least 1000Wrms @ 1Ohm, then all three are going in (if my parents don't kill me first).

it'll be stupid loud but shit for sound quality...ur mixing subs AND your using sony subs...

i think it'd b best to stick with the eD sub, its a better brand than sony....but since u dont have an amp to run it with, jus use the sony subs until u can afford an amp to run the eD, i would highly recommend NOT mixing different brands and SIZES of subs together, it willl sound shitty.

It's all good, I don't really care much about SQ, I just want something that will be freaking loud. Got everything for a good price too. And ya, hahaha, I'm just combining a bunch of wires I have around to hook them up. Yes it's my parents car (well my mom drives it mostly), but I use it when I need it so I'm putting this stuff in. I can always take it out later on anyways. When I put the eD sub back in I plan on either:
A) Putting the two sony's under the rear seats
or
B) Making some custom enclosures and sticking them in a corner of the trunk.
or
C) I'll just sell them off on ebay or to some friends and get a 2nd eD16ov.2

It's an Oldsmobile Intrigue btw. I actually wanted two tens so they'd be easier to fit in the cabin somewhere but there was only one so I got these instead. I know it sounds stupid and that eD is 10^9999999 times better than Sony, but hopefully it'll work out as well as I planned it :D

Oh ya the amp is already hooked up with 4 gauge power and ground, the speaker outs on the amp can't take 4 gauge though, they're too small.

Well the problem isn't money. I can get 10ft from an electronics store for 6 bucks but I'm too lazy to go, and I don't really have the time in the day. Too busy sleeping or at work. I do the wires cause I stay up until like 3 in the morning watching CSI anyways. It's a good way to pass time anyways.

I'm a 17 year old high school kid who listens to lots of rap... but I still dont mind a lil SQ here and there. Last year i had 2 12s and a 10 in my Colt just cause I wanted it to be loud... but not being able to hear the music got real old after about a month and I scrapped that idea.

1500W RMS = 3000W peak
3000W / 12V = 250A

Voltage drop from 15ft of 8ga wire at 250A leaves you with 9.7V at the amplifier. :rolleyes:

8 gauge IS good up to 1500 watts... on the output side of the amplifier.

1500 watts at 4 ohms = roughly 78 volts ac at ~ 19 amps ac.

Heck with impedance rise that wire is good easily for 2000 watts!

8 gauge power wire however is barely sufficient for most front stage amps.

Um... ya I'm getting rid of the Sony's and getting a better amp for my eD (probably a Hifonics). The Sonys, my cap and my current amp are pissing me off so they're all getting ditched.

Just wondering though... is a 4 gauge power wire enough to run a 1200W amp at 1Ohm?

I have been at the all that matters is bass point in my life....but after driving everywhere at 140+db I started to get dizzy alot and puke alot.....so I went with a little more sq ever since.

I am running 2 8" ED subs right now, there perfect.

your amp is gonna get freaklishly hot if its not suppose to handle 1Ohm resistance

Switch both those sony subs n buy a used DD or Atomic or RE sub, they'll rattle your car into pieces using all 1200W

Well I'm selling this stuff to get a new amp. I was looking at soundstream and hifonics and decided on the HIFONICS Brutus BXi1206D which puts out 1200W at 1Ohm. The reason I asked about the 4 gauge wire isn't because I'm cheap (well I am :P) but I already have it run and everything and 0 gauge for sure won't fit through the door sills. Maybe I'll change it but right now I need an amp and a good cap.

Oh yeah, I think I destroyed the cap I got off ebay :clap: too cool, it was leaking everywhere :D

D) Throw Sony Subs in garbage can and pick up some real subs like Image Dynamics, CDT, or Elemental like you already have.
