View Full Version : Got a 2007 VW Rabbit

Never thought I'd see the day I'd be driving a Veedub.

My GF and I finally got a car for her (my name is on the insurance as part time  ) After months of looking (trucks, suvs, cars) we found a 07 VW Rabbit 6 speed auto, heated seats, power everything, alloys, 2dr, ESP in Lethbridge. Drove out today and picked it up.

Rabbit was really the nicest, most solid car for the money in our opinion. Hatch is nice as there is a lot of room once you knock the back seat down. I drove it back from Leth and car is great on the highway. We are both happy with it and look forward to driving it for a while. We looked at the civic, mazda 3, used rsx, used accords, etc.

Keeping my fingers crossed when it comes to reliability.
Will post some pics tomorrow. It's white.

its 150hp 5 cylinder. it is basically the v10 Lamborghini engine cut in half, and detuned by 100hp...

So is it an easy engine to retune? I guess we'll see soon enough....

Thanks guys.

The model is Rabbit. They dont' have Gl, gls designations anymore just packages. We got everything except sunroof. The 5 cyl is 150 hp and 170tq. Sounds really cool with that extra cylinder. The sport mode on the 6 speed auto is sweet it downshifts and rev matches when it does. For city driving it's plenty of power.

I am off to take some pics. Will post in a bit.

I looked at one in the summer, was really impressed by it, my only beef was where the cruise control was, it seemed kind of in the way of the turn signal.

Good power though, gotta love an engine that has more tq than hp.

Pictures don't do interior justice. I'll try and take better ones at some point. The interior is very nice, way nicer than my WRX...

Looks like a great buy.

What's the MP3 FLDR button? Is it for an ipod connection or can you upload a bunch of MP3s into the deck?

It's just to scroll thru folders on disks i believe.

I really want to drop it and add some rims to it but it's not my car so I might have to work on that ;)

Can you take the black moldings off of the side?

Aleks
12-18-2006, 06:20 PM
HAHA they always put the carboard paper there for snow and such for delivery. There are OEM floor mats under.

We are up to 600kms. Hard breakin FTW

The black molding probably come off with enough heat. The Gti ones are painted I don't see why they didn't paint these ones.

Looks good, i was thinking of rims for the summer too. who would you use for the vw.(concept one, tunerworks.....)
the interior was the biggest selling point for me, with the gti i got so many standard features.

You can use one of the sponsors on the site. I have shopped at Speedtech and Tunerworks before over the years and they both provide good service.
I have also bought stuff online from time to time.

Car was 22ish + all the fees and tax.

Were you driving on memorial heading west then turned north on to Shagannapi last night? If so the car looks real good. If not, I saw someone with the same car and it looked good :D

22ish is hard to beat for a new car these days. Can't really buy much for 22. I think you did pretty good. Did you find out the invoice pricing for this one like you did on your WRX? Did it save you much money?

No you can't just peel the black moldings off the side. I am 99.99% sure that there are some holes underneath that would have to be filled. Thats how it is on MK4's (the strips are glued on...but once you peel them off there are holes under there)

I agree.
I found the invoice pricing. Total markup was $1200 so not much. We got a few hundred off. However the real savings came with Pdi and Dealer fees. The smaller dealer down south charged a lot less for these items.

It wasn't our car. I do see more and more of these out there.

As far as mods go wheels and suspension is what I am thinking but hey it's not my car :dunno:

Haha grats on the purchase!
I think Rabbits are alright in terms of reliability. Does it run on Deisel or has VW discontinued deisel for north american vehicles on the Rabbit too?

City Golf are 2-3 month wait too.

The Tdi is discontinued for 07, coming back in 08 most likely with a 2.0l 140hp, 240tq. That would be a great car too.
