Question about MKIV Supra

Hello. I just have a question about 93~98 Supra. If that Supra has Twin Turbo engine with automatic tranny, can we put Lexus IS 300 6sp manual tranny? Caz IS 300 has same engine as NA Supra engine right? (I know IS 300 is VVT-i)

I mean, I thought the USDM IS300 that eventually got manuals got the 5 spd manual from the NA Supra and the Celica, NOT the Getrag 6-spd, which was specific to the MK4 TT Supra?

The answer is no. My 6 speed conversion was $10000 to change with all the upgrades and goodies haha.

^ So it is $10k, I didn't think it was that much. I asked somebody since I came incredibly close to buying an MKIV TT with an auto, but he only said it would be $2k plus the tranny. Man thats a lot of coin for just a tranny swap. :nut:

The tranny alone is like 4k from Toyota. It's quite a lot of money to swap.

With that being said, I'm not 100% sure if the transmission in the IS300s is the V160 used in the Supras. I would assume it is, but I can GUARANTEE you that the shift linkage will be different, as the shifters fit in different locations. You will not be able to fit the IS300 tranny into the Supra without modifying the thift linkage on the transmission.

I just checked Kelley's Blue Book and no version of the IS300 ever had a 6 spd MT, and Wikipedia agrees with me, and that the Getrag V-series 6-spd was only ever used on the TT Supra. Everything else including the NA Supras used the W -series 5-spd from the Gen 3 Celica.

AS for you NA MKIV owners:

You should not be doing a TT swap or a 6 speed swap on your cars!!!

This is way toooooooo costly for you, not to mention the time involved.

MY advise to you is: sell your car, and BUY a TT MKIV with a 6speed. IT WILL BE CHEAPER IN THE LONG RUN.

Thx for all information to JAYMEZ_STi. It is really good information. What about MKIV Supra NA with manual? Caz Auto to manual swap is too much work. WHat about 5sp manual to 6sp manual tranny? Sorry, sound like stupid question. Also, you gave me 10k for estimate cost. It is pricy but i knew it. I think $10000 is not that cheap but I can try it.
