Just looked at the flyer for Visions on their website (visions.ca) and they are selling a Maxent 42" Plasma TV for $484 on boxing day. It doesnt list model number or say whether it is HD compatible or not.. Anyone have any information on this TV so I know if it will be worth getting up really early to go grab one? Would it accept HD hookups from a 360/PS3?

If you really like this EDTV, you'd better camp out at visions after the christmas dinner. Because it is going to be gone fast.

Its a EDTV monitor, needs satellite, digital cable or vcr to run and the picture is very washed out.

You can buy it at costco i believe for 599 or 499 regular price.
Its just an attention grabber for those people who dont know the difference between edtv/hdtv. They see 42" and Plasma in one sentence and the price of 484 and they go and line up. They take it home hook it up and go wtf and its back in the visions store a week later.

Save your 484 dollars for something better. Trust me

So you can't hook up cable to this thing or what?

it just has a native resolution of 480p instead of a 780p hdtv. this means it cannot accept HDTV signals. it can display your regular cable and SD channels fine. it will still look fine compared to other HDTVs when watching regular tv.(just not HDTV) just make sure it has a NTSC tuner built in before you buy.

The thing blows. If you really want a new TV, save your money for something else. Sure it's cheap, but get control of your finances and don't let the price convince you so easily.

We have the maxents at futureshop as well ( i work there) if it is indeed the same model, no it doesnt have a tuner. No I dont own one, I wouldnt spend my money on it. Read more about it before you make the final decision. Yes its a great price for a 42" plasma even that plasma its a great price, however you need to ask yourself why they woul sell that model for 500 when everything else is 1000+ even for EDTV's.

Just my 2 cents

It can't display regular cable "fine." The tv has no tuner so without an external tuned source you will get no picture. This TV is JUNK. I work at futureshop and I would'nt pay anymore than 50 bucks for this TV.

Don't cheap out when buying a plasma or LCD. Save your $$ and buy something decent. I have a friend that just picked up a Legend brand 42" plasma and it looks like shit (I don't have the heart to tell him this though)
I think alot of people buy the cheap junk just for the cool factor "Look at my new plasma!"

You get what you pay for.
