Anyone got some spare time to make me an MDF box this week? 1 10 inchs sub, sealed. Not rocket science. I don't have a table saw though. I have the dimensions, pm me if you're interested.

Found a good deal on a table saw at another boxing day sale :) Gunna build it myself after all the family leaves for holidays. But that's look tight WRX'er, i'm sure there will be LOTS of folks on here needing installs in the next few weeks considering how much stuff car audio stuff was on sale today.

Thats impressive man. I'm looking to build a custom box for my 2 12" Alpine subs to increase the SPL. Im not sure what the recommended dimensions are to get the maximum output without disorting anything. I'm still new at this car audio thing. What material is the best to reduce disortion? and is sturdy too.

for increased spl, go ported...what alpine series? 3/4 mdf will be suitable

Thanks for the compliments guys. Most of the sub boxes I have been building lately are finished with lots of sanding, primer then painted flat black. IMO, the only way to finish a box:thumbsup:

^ you do great work, you should do this on the side since I'll bet a lot of people on this forum would like custom boxes build. I know I need one.

Hey! That looks like my old sub box! haha. I can stand up for Jeff as being a quality builder. Btw, the one I had done took about 6 hours of sanding by yours truly lol.

PS: It's Ebby. Have you worked on a Wrangler/TJ before?

Look! i built my first sub box, and all it cost me was about 200$, but it was worth it because now i have

1 tablesaw
1 jigsaw
2 24" clamps
lots of screws and glue

and experience!

I made a couple of bungles, the carpet didn't compress as much as i'd though, so i had to saw down the back half of the box a bit to accomodate the rear strut tower brace, but it holds it in there very snug.

I don't know how to wrap it in carpet or vinyl, so i'll probably just paint it a textured black to make it kind of looks like the plastic pieces.

I was under some very tight space restrictions, so that's why its' all angly.

Now i need an amp, and visions says they can't install anything until the end of january! BOO.

afraid of breaking clips/amp/wires/electrical system

Not afraid of power tools though.

I just left my amp sitting in my trunk... not bolted or anything... hahaha I need to get around to that... I'm booked in at visions on the 5th of jan... but it's the NE visions.

EDIT: But it is installed... I just dunno if the sub is hooked up right... but it works, and it has been for the past month, so all is good i suppose.

thats my first attempt at FB, turned out decent considering its still functional and sounds awesome, makes a HUGE difference using a FG box when driving a 1.6L Acura(Honda) engine.

looks good:) fg is shitty to work with, but definatly worth the effort. especially for those interested in keeping their cars perfromance up seeing how it weighs far less
