Got this two way starter as a gift for christmas, and it hasn't been installed yet... Just curious if anyone has any experience with these and any opinions... It'll still be going into the car one way or another, just wanted to know what to watch for... Also springing for the keyless entry and have to get the old one ripped out. :drama:

EDIT:

Forgot to mention it's from visions.

That's good to hear... I was peeking inside the box and the remote looked really similar, so I'm hoping it will turn out much better than my current alarm... noname one way with a -2ft range haha

Parents paid for install when they picked it up and have it booked for Jan 5th (friday), unfortunately gonna cost another $115 for keyless and removal of old system, but they're gonna spring for that... well worth it even if they didn't

Yea, i just finished paying.. it's come to like a total of 650 so far... it was 305 for my mom, then it was 40 for standard, 50 for keyless entry, and 75 for removal of old alarm. then I wanted an alarm starter, so they charged another 90 bucks for it, and another 90 (on top of the 100) for the install!

I dont remember if those are the exact numbers, but it was 160 + taxs (169) and then 180 + tax (190)

such a scam removal of an old alarm for 75 dollars ? I say you should get a discount, since all the wires are found and it's just a matter of "reconnecting"

OMG. Install at Visions is pricey but probably just as much as any other shop. I know that the unit itself can be had for about $250.

Each of those options are one additional wire to splice, and like silvercivicsir said, it'd be easy to find the wires if you trace the ones from the old system.

Anyway, it's too late to do anything about now. It'll definitely be nice to have when the temperature drops.

I'm just glad, i'll have a real alarm.. The old one was falling apart... the wires were coming loose, the alarm would randomly "unlock" itself when I was driving, or braking hard.

Also wouldn't even unlock/lock the doors anymore as of last night... Driving me up the wall... and the 10ft range wasn't helping much... this'll be a great upgrade... just wish it weren't so pricey. Figured I'd just do it right the first time, instead of going back, buying a new unit that has an alarm, and then "removing" the old one again. and all that jazz.
