It has been hectic since the day I got back from L.A., but I finally had a few hours to start going through the 8,000+ photos I took over the five days.

Without further delay, here are the shots from day one.

Click for full Photobucket album (http://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g95/ChromeDragon78/D1GPDay1/)

And a few samples as usual. Enjoy! I will get more shots up in the coming week.

I have had way too many of my photos stolen in the past so now anything that goes on the web gets marked. Feel free to thank the assholes that have stolen my shots in the past for forcing me to do this.

Can you explain the term "stolen"? I am simply asking out of ignorance too so please humor my questions :) I have often heard of this stealing others' media but I have never been clued in as to how someone else can profit from the works of others. Or is it that some people just post other peoples pics and say they took them? If that is the case then I say imbed a graphic in the pic somewhere that totally distinguishes your brand and then you can embarass the hell out of them when you point it out :)

Personally it doesn't matter to me if there are water marks or not but I do feel it takes a lot of quality away from your pics. This is the truely sad part about it. Unless the words are a part of your composition then your photograph is no longer a piece of art.

Anyway keep up the good work.

Believe me, I'm not happy about it either. I've contemplated just doing something in the corner, but it's often too easily just cut out. I have seen my photos on websites, advertisements and in competitor's publications, as well as others claiming the photos as being their own.

Pardon the cliche, but the straw that broke the camel's back was the Edmonton Sun running a shot of mine that they took from online and gave no credit whatsoever. Taking photos from online and not verifying ownership is a huge violation of journalistic ethics. Seeing as I work for the Edmonton Journal, it's an even bigger issue. Just to avoid this crap altogether I have decided to stick with the watermarking.

Wow, I think that "straw" was a pretty big one :) Was it ever brought to anyone's attention at the Sun that this had happend? I would have thought that would simply be unacceptable or even illegal for a publisher of anything to use someone else's property without consent.

Is that a common practice for newspapers to steal images or photos of whatever they can find? Do they hide behind some retarded loop hole that since the picture or image is public that they can use it? Weird, and I think you should have gotten some compensation or at least a plug or credit for it.

I spoke with their editor and received an apology. I could have pursued legal action, but it would've just wasted a lot of time and money for such a small photo. If they were making money off of it, then yes I would have for sure.

Thanks for the comments guys. Sorry, I can't really go handing out higher res shots as I have had too many issues with my photos being used without my permission in the past.
