i personally would go with a higher viscosity rate for an aged motor, so consider the 10W-30 your best bet.

NO, not on a high Mileage motor, stick with the type of oil in there now(mineral, Synthetic Blend, or Full synthetic) but go to higher viscosity because depending on the engine age and mileage, and if it is an aluminum block or iron block, you could have seals failing left and right...go to 10W30 (or max of manufacturers specs)

Best bet is Mobil Synthetic oil.....they have one for higher milage cars......I use it every oil change and it works awesome!!! I once used Quakerstate oil and it burned all away in like 3 weeks!!! it left my engine bone dry!!?? USE SYNTHETIC!!!

just like zorro said, if you put in synthetic after 130,000kms youll be pissing out oil everywhere. i used to do oil changes for a living not long ago and youd be suprised how dumb some people are. 256,xxxkms and the request moobil 1 5w30 lol. start it up and you can see the leaks starting ,lol

just my .02 and for your cars sake

I personally recommend 10 WD - 40. I find it works wonders!
Seriously though 160k is not high kms and depending on what year and what type of car you have I would just follow what the owners manual says is best for your car.

It's only mentioned in two places, the 1st post and mine. The first post was serious, mine was not. Notice the "Seriously though..." directly following it in my post hinting to the fact that anything before that point was not serious?

I have 314km on my car, and possibly the engine too.
I still feed it mobil 1 Synthetic and I have 0 leaks and dont see any starting. Been feeding it the same oil since Ive got it, and previous owner been feeding it the same stuff. :0

I have 5W30 Mobil 1 synthetic in my car, and my 1987 Acura Integra has 336,000 kms on it. Now THAT'S hiiiiiiiiiiiiigh milage. :D

No leaks, no power smoke, everything is sealed properly, and still has proper compression. :)
