It still has the 1 year manufacturers warranty like every product purchased.

here are some camera phone pics of the specs on this laptop.

on his post it says 60gb HDD, on the sticker on the laptop it's 40gb hdd, but this is what it show under properties? wtf?

as for the speed, it suppose to be 512mb ddr, but the sticker says 256mb ddr and now the pic tells me 192mb ddr

Please goto Device manager, and list us the Model # of the harddrive. That will tell if its a partitioning problem or a scam of the specs.

Also, check the memory at boot up, in the bios. 192 vs 512 is a huge difference.

I could see 256 showing as 192 if the videocard takes 64mb for itself.

hard drive # HTS424040M9AT00

just so everyone knows, the seller has been working with me so far through pm's, so please don't jump into conclusions about the seller.

the laptop is mint externally as he describes, and he seemed like a nice guy so hopefully it's just all a big misunderstanding, hopefully.

Harddrive is Confirmed to be a Hitachi Travelstar 40GB 4200RPM Drive.

My guess is the info in the main post was copy and pasted from the wrong model # laptop.

so why is it only showing 20gb? as usable?

My guess is that it is partitioned into a 20gb drive, and still has 20gb free.

Easyiest thing is to start disk manager, and make a new partition of 20gb (which should show up as a D:\ Drive)

This will give you a 20GB C:\ Drive, and a 20GB D:\ Drive.

Right click My Computer, Goto Manage, Goto Disk Management.

In Disk Management, bottom pane, should have Disk 0, and it should have some unpartitioned space, right click that space, and create a partition.

You could post a screenshot also of disk manager if you like.

:werd:

On Acers (and others) they partition the HDD 3 times, once for C:, once for D: and then another emergency partition that you can use for a backup.

I was wondering about this sale and I didn't post anything but I bought this same laptop with an Crystalbrite screen for 550 brand new. I was puzzled to why there was so much demand for this. Let me know if you have any questions.

i also did the bios thing and it has

System Memory - 640kb
Extended Memory - 189mb
Video Memory - 64 mb

so it does have 40gb not 60gb that was posted?

thanks for all the help guys.

for Quasarcav, do you have the same laptop?

is there suppose to be a hole on the right side? does it have a serial plug in for the mouse?

The sticker on the laptop distinctivly says 40gb, However i wrote down 60gb as thats what my g/f (the owner) had informed me.
The rest of the specs i gathered from acers website. I confirmed them on 4 other sites prior to posting.

Clever,
What is the Exact Model # of the laptop?

Actual:
- 1.4Ghz
- 256mb ram
- 40gb hd

Posted:
- Intel Celeron M Processor, 1.5 GHz
- 512MB Ram
- 60 GB Hard Drive

Slight Differences.

Acer Travelmate 2312LCi_L

it has an Intel Celeron M 360

(1.4ghz, 400 MHz FSB, 1Mb L2 Cache)

that's what it says on the sticker.

Clever i sent you a PM. We are resolving this completely. Thanks to everyone who participated.
My apologies to clever. I went by mainly what the website said. Without 100% checking the laptop.
