I'll post some pics in a bit, my buddy is emailing them to me when he gets home.

We were at a shop today, a new starter was around $500 retail but I'm sure you could get it rebuilt for a lot less.

They were fucking you around. A new starter shouldn't be more than a couple hundred, especially if you get s a buddy who's a wrench to do t for you. They are easy to swap out, and not too tough to find a re-built one.

That's what I figured as well. Just posting what one shop told me.

Shouldn't be too hard to DIY either.

A new starter from Suzuki costs over $500 retail, I'm a motorcycle partsman so you can believe me haha

however, I think it should be possible to rebuild it, Suzuki sells the starter brushes for around $75, and you can get the bearings and seals from transmission supply. It's 2 bolts to take it out so you can do it yourself.

just make sure when yuo take the start apart to correctly mark the 2 end caps to go back on the correct way. say like 2 x's on one side and then on the other end cap 2 O's.

Also on some brush plates you have to unsolder and then resolder on the new brushes.

Make sure everything is clean, hopefully the armature is not burnt too bad, you can clean it up using scothbrite pads.

slap it abck together and try it on a battery :)

or PM me and I could do it :P
