depends what you drive, if its a civic you can buy expanding foam to spray into the vents of your trunk lid and that works very well.

I'm pretty sure that you're still going to get some amount of rattling, no matter what you do. Of course, doing all this stuff may help minimize vibrations, but don't expect to completely eliminate it.

When you're looking to eliminate the rattling in your car, keep in mind there are two kinds of vibrations:

1) Vibrating metals

2) And loose things bouncing around, like unsecured screws/bolts/etc...

if you go the expanding foam way then you should buy minimal expanding foam and be very very very careful or your trunk will warp. do it a little at a time. It will work but you need to be very careful doing it, ive seen the damage it can cause without proper technique

No matter what you do on a civic it will always have a rattle even if you dont have a spoiler. The area that surrounds the plate will also rattle and the metal in the way will not really allow you to fix that problem.
