Awesome. I was expecting for this to happen eventually, just not this soon. The thread was an interesting read too, with some feeling that this will actually hurt consumers by dragging out this "format war".

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, good thing I've held out on the Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive for now.

I can't help but think that that would be one expensive disc.
I also wonder if quality of movies would be compromised due to more compression!

it will be just like the DVD-R / DVD+R battle, but this ones going a lot quicker... im glad they announced the dual format drives and discs though, because HD-DVD encryption has already been cracked... it was cracked 8 days after the xbox drive came out.

That would be a big thing if HD got cracked so quick but blue-ray didnt, all the big movies would lean more towards the one that didnt get cracked I would think.

At least now with dual drives already coming out as well as dual format discs within 24 months there should be no more war.
