my uncle has some work here in Canada for a year, and he has an International Driver License.
he used to work in the Philippines and Qatar

can he just drive right away and for how long (3months iirc?) before he needs to apply for a Class5 license

the IDL canada gives out is valid for one year, but you need your original along with it. most countries its between 3-6 months from entry.

you can always say you left the country and came back...
