View Full Version : 1998 honda civic CVT problems
i own a 1998 honda civic...when i turn the steering wheel to the right it makes a really loud squeaking sound. I am wondering if i just need to grease up a few of the joints because the squeaking sounds like a metal on metal type of sound. So my question is, is it possible to put something like grease nipples on or do i need to replace the entire unit?

your cv joints or constant velocity shafts need to be replaced. very common repair. extra grease won't help
(cvt is a transmission type)
oh, alright...
would you be able to tell me what a constant velocity shaft is?

I think he is referring to the CV axle. This is what connects the transmission to the wheels, when they wear you can hear a clicking noise if you turn the wheel sharply. I dont think your CV's are gone if it's squeeling. Check the power steering fluid.
