loose hand brake cable for jetta

hey i was wonderin if anyone knows how to tighten the hand brake cable for a jetta

depending on the year, they're supposed to be self-adjusting

its a 96 jetta

if is the a2 body style just pop the cover off for the lever and there is 2 bolts there, if your cable is getting crap in it its probably going to break on you, mine did.
