Ok, here's the thing: I'm looking to buy this mx-3. Im paying for the car all my myself, and my parents are paying for the insurance. Does anyone know that the mx-3 is consider as a "sports car"??? we only have one car in the family, so im going to be under my dad's name for the insurance, any idea how much it could be???

If the insurance is too high, i may not be able to get the car..:(

most insurance companies no longer rate cars according to the type of car (i.e. sports vs sedan, color, etc.), they rate cars according to the risk of the automobile (i.e. number of claims for thefts, accidents, etc. etc.)

Probably cheap to insure if it's only under your dads name, and yes, the mx-3 is probably considered a sports car.

Well some insurance companies go by engine size to determine rates, but your dad will have a very low rate due to his long record of driving. I'm betting probably between $80.00 to $120.00 per month.
Hey buy the way nice to see a F1 fan on the board, Mclaren is my team aswell, I hope Kimi gives Michael a run for his money this year.

If your just putting PLPD, it'll be pretty much the same for any (Any car like MX3, or civic, etc...) car that you choose.

It only costs me like $10/year extra when I switch to my Z28 from my Talon for the summer.

Here's some details as to how it works with most insurance comapnies, if not all:

http://www.vicc.com/english/clearwhat.htm

they used to have a chart with all the different vehicles and the ratings, not sure where it is anymore.

Call around for insurance and see what results you get. Its always nice to have parents assist in car payments... Damn its kind of a pain paying everything without assistance. :banghead:
