How many people on here have them installed, and if so any consequences from the po-po?

I've got a Escort Passport SRX and it works quite well. I don't know about Canada for sure, but here in the US, Laser jammers are completely legal, and considering the stealthiness of the Passport Unit, the cops really shouldn't notice it. Then again, with it... you shouldn't be getting pulled over... just waving pass by while they stare annoyed at their laser gun.:bigpimp:

laser jammers are legal in canada, but radar jammers are illegal.

Passive radar jammers are fully legal. Active radar jammers are not. The difference? Passive jammers only scramble frequencies they find that are directed at them, from a radar gun. Active jammers just send out a constant scrambled frequency, all the time, non-stop. That can interfer with other communications equioment, hence why they're illegal.

Either kind is useless though, because there is yet to be a radar jammer that actually works.

Laser jammers are fully legal.

Well if radar jammers don't work, fine, but how successful are laser jammers?

Depends on the company. If you buy an Escort system, I'd say they're very successful, and the best you can buy, based on opinions from friends and online review sites. Cops usually target your front license plate (or area where it would be in Alberta's case), so that's where the front mounted jamming sensor is. Likewise on the rear side. It's also a laser detector, so they don't have to target your particular vehicle for you to be warned that there's laser being used. Is it worth the ~$500 ? If you speed a lot, I'd say yes, as just one speeding ticket could jack up your insurance by just as much as the Escort system costs.

There is one that has two sensors that create a whole shield across the front of the vehicle - I find it hard to believe that cops will focus on a front licence plate, especially in Alberta.

Even if the cops focused on the front license plate, the laser footprint will be large enough to trigger the front bumper mounted jammers. Just pulling this number from memory but I believe the spread is 3ft for every 1000ft away from the gun.

The Blinder jammer system uses two jammers, so when placed properly on the front bumper, the car is completely protected.

lol, well we have no front plates, so we're in the clear!! :bigpimp: No seriously, in provinces like BC, they aim at the front plate, reason being, it's a centeralized location on the front of the car, and it's consistant.

Rather than trying to get speed from the hood of one car, then from the headlight of another car, bumper of the next one, etc. That would raise inconsistancy issues in court, on whether or not the speed that was taken was accurate or not. So they use the front plate on every single car to avoid situations like that, as even cops don't like getting false readings. Enough inaccurate readings and wins in court, and the cops might lose their ability to issue citations through laser, which would cost them in lost revenue, which doesn't benefit them.

So since we have no front plates, the cops here use just a centeral location on the front bumper, somewhere close to where the front plate would be on the respective vehicle being targeted. Basically, the front mounted laser jammer is positioned close enough to work. Depending on the car it's going on, they usually recommend putting it in the bumper grill. The Escort kit comes with full instructions and several different mounting diagrams on example cars.

Thats what it is! The blinder.

Has anyone heard any reviews of this jammer? I've never been pulled over with anything except for Laser, and being that the blinder claims that there are two jammers that create a defensive "shield", it should effectively protect much of the vehicle.

Any thoughts?

I'd go with a recognized brand before trying out something that I've never seen on any review sites (radartest.com, Car & Driver mag, etc).

Radar jammers? Or Laser jammers? Radar jammers are bullshit, they don't work, that's true. But Laser jammers do work.

Blinder radar jammers are awsome. I have read numerous reviews, and experienced it first hand. Friend has it in his car...we were going threw new school zone in area, at 50, wernt payng attention, all of a sudden, his speaker/siren thingy it comes with went off, he slammed on brakes, slowed down to 30, turned off jammer, just so police do get a lock on you, and went by cop, no one else was on road, so it was us he hit. I think blinder might even have a thing where it auto shuts off after 5seconds just so cop gets a lock, i forget tho, but i know he turned it off, just to be sure. at 1000feet, laser is about 6-8feet wide i believe, and police cant clock you after 1000 feet because laser gets bigger than average car, and its only designed to clock 1 car at a time. If you live in calgary, one of the only cities that uses strickly laser, other than photo radar, its a wise investment.

Under $200 CDN? And Passport's laser defense systems run around $600 CDN to $700 CDN. In the field of radar detectors and laser jammers, you get what you pay for, hence why the best in the field (Passport and Valentine) both cost over $500 CDN.

According to radartest.com, Blinder gets an overall rating of 60%, while Bel's system gets a 97%, and Escort's gets 99%. Results can be found here:

I think that speaks for itself ;)

Retail on Binder, $289 USD. Retail on Escort, $449 USD. Where do you see that Blinder goes for around the same price? I see a $160 USD difference.

Further more, why waste your money on a product that only works half the time? :dunno: Anyone here who is serious about a laser defense system, forget crap like Blinder, buy an Escort model, you will not be disappointed

Ok let me make one thing clear... Most of these ppl writing on here dont have an active laser jammer... Most of them talk purely on what they've heard from other ppl.... My car is currently running both the Escort ZR3 Laser Shifter (Jammer) and the Passport solo radar detector.... DOES IT WORK? Yes it does... I've tested it with an actual police laser gun.... How well...??? 6 - 7 times I jammed depending on where it was aimed and how close my car was to the laser gun... DOES IT WORK WITH ANY LASER GUN? No there are new guns coming out all the time... The new Marksmen Pro owns the ZR3 shifter according to Motoring Magazine... Escort has come up with a new Shifter, something like the Sr5 shich seems to counter this new laser gun.... As far as radar.... There are no jammers for radars.... Only warning devices which I run the Solo for.... As far as price goes.... You wanna go cheap with A passive jammer might as well throw your money out the door... Because those things dont work.... A solo Passport 8500 will run you $539 which works together with the ZR3 shifter which will run you about 1200 - 1500 installed Canadain, and yes you must have it installed by a professional.... Was it worth it??? No.... But I thought it was something that would look cool in my car... Heres pics of the jammers and the passport installed.....

I knew someone would say something about my sig line!! I know, I was just quoting the F&F line that Ja Rule said. And the way everyone interpreted it, too much NAWWWWS can make your engine turn into a 1000 lbs of C4 explosives
