Man, I would definitely be interested in what is behind Door #2, but I usually like to take a new system for a test drive.

Are you down in Calgary a lot?

Fiatman

I don't make it down much anymore. :(
If there's someone up here I can show it to that you know/trust, that's an option.

I'll respond to any other questions in this post or by PM, so I'm not bumping the thread needlessly.

Revived the old thread, and updated everything!

do you still have that one with the fancy case? or is that the HTPC you were talking about?

Fiatman
01-31-2007, 05:00 PM
That was the HTPC...I'm actually in the process of building up an absolute MONSTER Lan Gamer.

Fx-60 Processor, 2GB DDR, 74GB Raptor+500GB data drive, 680W SLI Apevia P/s (windowed) and 2x8800GTX's. All in a steel bule case very similar to the X-Pack. (fully windowed)

I'll get pics of that once I finish.....

I still have everything in the first post...all 4!
I also have a couple different TV tuner cards I could easily throw into any of them to make it into a media center type.....(except #1 as the case is half height only)

01-31-2007, 07:46 PM
so which of these comps do you still have then?

Fiatman
02-02-2007, 11:04 PM
I have everything listed in the first post of the thread....and lots more

Pics of the Mad Scientist system are up.

Also got my old X850Pro AGP back from someone who caved and went PCI-E

Fiatman

The Minuet system is gone...as is the X850pro AGP.

Building a cheap but quick little system for surfing, torrenting and such...

All PM's replied to, and some changes, including an AMD gamer added.....that one can be upgraded to a X1900XT if the will (and the funds) are there.

Made a few changes, price drops, and reconfiguring. Most parts are mix-n-match, plus I have 2 brand new 500GB Hard drives that can go into ANY of the systems..

3. The Dual core Dell! BRAND NEW
Bought this at my sister-in-laws behest, but she decided too late she didn't want a Dell....
-Dell E521 system
-AMD Dual core X2 3800+ AM2 socket
-512MB DDR2 Memory (upgradeable to 1GB or 2GB)
-Geforce 6150 Motherboard, with open PCI-E slot...includes decent onboard graphics and 8-channel sound
-16X DVD-ROM and 16X DVD burner (dual drives)
-160GB SATA2 HDD
-Windows VISTA home Basic with recovery CD
-Dell USB KB/Optical mouse
-3 year Warranty...first year is ONSITE coverage!!!
Price: $580....but very customizable....like if you wanted a good video card and 1GB memory...easily done!

This was on sale at Dell for last week for $387 + GST including shipping and 250GB HDD.

Fiatman

Wow, got a link to it? Closest I saw last week was a similar system had 1GB RAM and a 250GB drive (cheap upgrades) for $569+ Alberta disposal fee + tax, so just over $600......and that one doesn't have dual optical drives like mine.

I'll even upgrade the RAM to 1GB and keep the same price, but then the price would be firm and not obo.

Thanks anyways for the bump/attempted threadcrap

Oh you mean the one that had a limited quantity, didn't have a 250GB drive, and didn't have dual optical drives...my grave mistake. Well, if anyone wants that deal, they can always find one of the few that got it and ask them nicely!

Sorry it was actually $379. Check the 29 page thread on Redflagdeals.com if you like.

Fiatman, do you have extra comp. parts you want to sell?

Fiatman
03-17-2007, 02:47 PM
More changes...some stuff gone, some stuff added. Prices have dropped yet again. May consider trades for DSM turbo such as pristine 14B or 16G/20G or equivalent

Can you post prices on the video cards?

Also, do you have any s939 cpus?

Fiatman
04-05-2007, 11:04 PM
Updated with Vid card prices...would be less if using as an upgrade to any system...no 939 CPU's, almost bought a 3600X2 for my Neo4 plat SLI, still holding back by a thread...

I'll be down in Cgy next week monday-Friday morning.....I can bring a small amount of stuff with me, but not a whole freakin carload.

dood thats an expensive HTPC.

Fiatman
05-10-2007, 07:59 AM
And to think I Wondered if anyone read this thread anymore

Despite it being a borderline threadcrap, you're right....the HTPC price dropped to reflect price drops in RAM and HDDs....and a drop in all the rest too for good measure.

My system is pending sale....just getting my AMD X2 3800+ system together....watercooling is so....well....cool! Seems happy at 2.6GHz on air, the water should make it even faster and happier!

Fiatman
05-31-2007, 07:55 AM
My personal system is gone (*snif*), but I've got a few here to compensate. I've also built up a nice SLI rig with Dual 7900GTX's and an AMD 3800+ dual core that runs happily at 2.6GHz and probably higher...Watercooling to come on this beast if desired

Dell has been scooped up...now an HTPC, a surfer, and a Gamer!
