I'm a newbie to car audio, looking to get a decent amp to power some 10" subs and 6 speakers. Any suggestions for one that won't break the bank?

Well, when you say 6 speakers, is that two rears, and a pair of components (tweeter and mid-range)? And how many is "some" 10" subs? Before anyone can help you, you're going to need to be pretty specific with what you have, or what you plan on getting. This includes the amount of power required to run your stuff.

Also, you should specify your budget. Decent amps, especially higher powered ones, don't come cheap. If you have a tight budget, it may be a good idea to go used.

it im not mistaken, the alpine mentioned above is a year or two old, and in the Vpower series.

i think they put out about 220 watts, bridged, but i cant remember the exact stats.

good solid amp for running a single sub, or some components.

the mrv-100m is a monoblock amp capable running 2x4ohm subs. It will run at a 2ohm load. It is a V12 series amp strictly for running subs not speakers...nice amp.
