I hear you can make one out of clear plastic and a strip of packing tape on both sides. It ain't going to stop you from getting pulled over and getting a ticket for having stuff covering your plate.

You can order those plate covers in from a place in Ontario -- they advertise in the back of car magazines (Car & Driver for example).

Although I have no basis for this, I'm sure you'd get pulled over for having it before it saves you a photo-radar ticket. If photo radar is a problem for you, I recommend visiting your local optometrist!

Most are crap, but I've seen one on a Mercedes CL that you could only read the letters if you look at it head on. If you look at it from an angle (which most cameras will) you cant make out the plate.

not worth it IMO, you will get pulled over for having a cover on your plate.
simple way to avoid photo radar, don't speed.

they are called license plate protectors or car wash license plate protectors.
they work just make sure you put it on the right way so that the the convex side is out, otherwise they dont work

ohh and it costs about $20
