yes, good boots, (even steeltoe work boots if youve got nothing else) are a must
ive got a pair of Cat steeltoes ive been riding with for almost 4 years, most comfy boots ive ever owned, and they saved me from busting my foot up when i was being stupid and snagged it on a pothole (dont ask!)
id suggest finding some boots where you can feel things with your toe though, itll make shifting gears WAY easier.
yes you definatly need good boots, I have a pair of army jump boots that i wore for the course, and although they're bulky, really helped.
having good gear on really raises your confidence level as well. i can't imagine riding in a t-shirt and runners.
it's a good course, you'll have fun, i did
what about a pair of shoes shoes?? those ones from like stone ridge.. u know.. back in the "hardcore" age..
you can probably get away with it...
it's your feet afterall
damn i just wanna wear runners.. whats wrong with runners? i alwasy see people wear runner..

runners dont protect u feet man
u see people wearing shorts and t shirts, its their choice, they willing to take the risk
.. yeah i guess.. im just worried about the gear shifting.. with like work boots..

I wouldn't worry, unless you have size 16 feet or something.

If your taking CSC, odds are your gonna get a bike
Go invest in riding boots, once u try them, youll never go back

i wear size 13 steel toes... if i can shift with those things, you can shift with work boots.
take your favorite boots and go to a bike shop, and sit on a bike and practice shifting with your toes, itll tell you whether you can shift with them or not
