the biggest hert for me was the wheels and tires. 18's for rolling on in the summer and 17's with hoosier's for track days. Thats 5+ g's just in wheels and tire's. Then comes all the other stuff.

Yah $10 000 isn't very much when it comes to modding a car.....if we are talking mods alone I've spent close to $40K in the 3 previous vehicles I've owned......And that is why I am not modding my current car, I am at peace with driving a stock car!!! :D

Anyway, its not a total waste of money! At least you are enjoying it!!! Right boys?!?!? haha

i've been fortunate enough to be able to buy a brand new house and mod my car too, but it's a hobby as I see it. But hey, that's the bonus of being married with two incomes! Just bought a Lancer OZ Rally yesterday for my wife. pretty spiffy for the price point. now she wants to start moddin' that. yikes. now we'll have a modded Civic and Lancer....money, money, money...

Before I know it, my daughter will be saying "Daddy, you should get a bigger turbo". Hahhaha!

it's all good though!

OH well, my new motto now though to help me deal with the $60,000 or so:banghead: (I've kinda stopped adding all the recepts)I've put into the car is that you only LIVE ONCE and well ya gotta enjoy life while you can. My budget was $20,000 including car. I've still got $2,000 to go and $4,000 of that stuff I can strip off and use on the mythical 'next car'.

I bought the car for $9,000 BTW.

So far my highly modified Neon has cost me less per month than my stock VW Passat did, and the Neon will run circles around the Passat.

This is weird, I acually sat down a couple nights ago and added everything up. I checked it out and I could have had a down payment on a house EASY.

I have spent well over 27,000 already just in mods and the car STILL doesnt fucking run. Aint that something for ya:thumbsdow

I'm not done modding, I still want to get a body kit by the end of the year. Want to get 19's, want to get at least 4 type R 12's...
I want to give up and move on and spend money on something that will have some return on it. But if I stop now its just a waste of 30,000 for a car that doesnt run and doesnt look that great either ... :banghead:

I've spent close to 3G's but that's all been stereo equipment. Have yet to get it all installed as well.

Still gotta do the engine swap, handling upgrades, rims/rubber and soooooo much more.

All in all I know I'll spend over 12K easy on my car.

You know the usual. They just give me the BS story all the time. But oh well. All I know is that when I get those flares done they are going to look so bad ass. Body shop did a little mock test to show me how they are going to go about flaring the fenders and I just had a smile on my face when I seen what is going to be. I've decided to go with the stagered look, so I'm going to have the rear flared more than the front. I hope it turns out well. Patience is key when your striving for perfection.  :werd:

Yeah, if you buy cheap shiat. Also depends on the size of rims you buy, width of tires, what kinda tires etc etc etc. Remember you might pay 2g for a kit but then you have to still paint it, maybe it dosent fit then you have to get it to fit properly, theres always hidden costs that add up in the end.

Why does everyone ask that ?
Lets do the math... I spent 30 000 including car alright. Lets see what I can buy with that.. Hmm maybe a rsx-s, celica GT-S and thats even pushing it because I know they are more. Now lets look at it this way, I bought my car for 2700 then bought an exhaust for 500. I beat both of those cars with ease just with that mod.
How many people turn their head and give a thumbs up when they see a stock Celica GTS ? I havent seen anyone do that, but I get it all the time and thats just spending a minimum on paint , rims and lowering.
Now lets add the other 20 000 dollars in performance mods I have spent. Well shit I will be putting down more HP then a Viper that costs a 100 000 dollars.
I also have the satisfactoin of being unique, creating something of my own creation that looks the way I WANT it to look. Not just what the factory offers as "options". How many cars are on the road like mine... not a single fucking one. I get emails from people in the states going "wow send me more pics of your probe..." How many people do that when you go pick up a bone stock 30 000 dollar car ?
Have I made my point yet ? I can go on :D
