He's turning 24 and is in his last yr of Mech eng at the U of C.

Any ideas on a ~$150 or less gift that a mech eng might like? He's also into motorsports and movies (some DVDs are my last resort).

He doesn't seem to interested in a MP3 player.

:)

Does he have a car you can buy a small mod for?
If he's into computers you can buy him a new GFX card since we all know how useless a 1 year old card can be.
Maybe a PS2 if he's into that and you guys don't already have one?

An Autoart model of his favorite car. Personally, I think these cars are exceptional quality and build. From 70-100 dollars. Maybe in addition a magazine subscription?

Thanks for the ideas.
There is a cool snowmobile part that he'd like but it'd take a week to get here.

Someone else is getting him a Wii (if they can find one) so I'll get some a coupel Wii games probably.

kaput's idea is good too.

Go to the Calgary Flying Club out in Springbank and buy him an Introductory Flight for $80. It takes about an hour and he will get to do some flying on his own. On my session the instructor did the take off and landing and that is about it. Very cool indeed. You would still have money left over for that frame too.

He and I and my sister all have passes to do that from a year ago but we've never got around to it.
