Unlocking and De-Branding a SE W810i

Hi all,

Just got this phone (SE W810i) and realized how crappy it is now that roger's has put it's own firmware on it. Anyways, I've been trying to find a way on the net to do this but there are just hundreds of threads that I would have to sift through. If there is someone who has done this or knows where this can be done relatively cheap ie. $20, please let me know. Thanks.

So I just flashed my w810i with the (I think) latest SE firmware and I must say that I definitely like it alot better than the one that came with it from Rogers, now I can use any mp3 for a ringtone, any theme or background that I like and have no issues installing games/applications. Also, the startup and shutdown animation is nicer than Rogers. It's so nice to not have a crippled phone! I'd recommend this to anyone that has a Rogers Branded w810i (or any phone) for that matter.

One question that I do have is, is there a way I can tell if this phone is locked/unlocked? I haven't had a chance to find someone on the Fido network to see if their sim will work in my phone. Just thought I'd ask if flashing the firmware will also remove the network lock. Thanks.

BTW, I used DaVinci to do all of this, pretty straight forward and costs US$13 to do it.

it's locked for sure

u need a db2020 unlocker for that, go read up a bit
