I ended up paying close to 170usd for a set of 99usd plug wires, only $16 of that cost was shipping the rest was "brokerage". Never again. I always ask what method of shipping the seller/company uses, if they say UPS I say no deal.

So now you have way less money and you're supremely pissed off. I guess BROKER/RAGE is the right word for it.

I freakin' hate that.

My friend just bought a manifold from a wreckers for $36 USD and had to pay $30 cdn to get it.

I've been raped by them too and refused to pay the brokerage of like $30 on two freakin' tee-shirts worth like maybe $50 cdn. So they sent a collection agency after me... :banghead:

:guns: UPS brokerage

You guys still can't beat me. I bought a $2 antenna which was shipped via UPS. The taxes were about 30 cents. The brokerage bill was $50+GST + 30 cents. $60 for a $2 part.

could you not just never get the package and be out the 2 bucks, rather than 50?

never thought of that... otherwise people could just send you stuff you don't even want and screw up your credit?

Probably not, I'm pretty sure UPS will hunt you down for customs brokerage fees regardless if you accepted the package or not.

Actually I had a package sent UPS, I said I didn't want to pay the brokerage fees and I didn't want the package. They said they would keep it in their warehouse for X days where I could go and pick it up and pay for it, if I changed my mind. Afterwards they just do something with the package, I don't remember what.

I did give in and pay for it though!

I am familiar with this. They find you, they make you pay. Its better to just pay up front. A fellow Ebayer of mine tried to evade them and not pick up his item as the brokerage was more than the item was worth. Well they destroyed his credit, and sent him a letter every single day.
