Isn't it only with old cars though?

like 1980's or up to 95's?

What boggles my mind is who takes the time to think of this? "Damn I locked myself out of my Mazda...Maybe, just maybe, if I burn a small hole in this handy tennis ball, I can open the lock with it" haha. Cool trick though, I wonder if it only works on those cars.

Chances are they heard about the "air-pressure" trick first, and THEN came up with the idea of using a tennis ball for the air flow - not the other way around.

I knew about this from a few years back...thats how ppl would see vw's back in the day. But usually they would use a hammer to hit the tennis ball so it unlocked the doors.

Has anyone actually done this first hand and been successful?

hate to sound like a total skeptic but I'm thinking the camera guy clicked the remote the same time she pushed on the ball.

Mazda 3 Locks Vulnerable to a Blow to the Passenger Door
It has been revealed that a substantial blow to the right spot on the passenger door of a Mazda 3 can unlock the car. The dent created activates the linkage which tells the computer the car was correctly unlocked.
Mazda has been aware of the problem and working to solve it since October last year. Mazda 3s from 2007 will have countermeasures to prevent this type of break in. Mazda insists there is no defect in the product.
This problem affects all Mazda 3s and may affect other models. Mazda doesn't have a policy on whether they will correct the defect in cars older than 07 yet. Owners are advised to keep valuables out of site. An aftermarket alarm is also an option.

The best part of that was the comment below from a guy saying "My wife would lock both the keys AND the tennis ball in the car".
