I have a few questions about installing a 64 bit OS on a new system i am building tomorrow.

I am wondering if there is anything that i need to do special other than obtain the OS and install as normal?

Would it be wise to go XP or Vista?

Would installing a 32bit OS wreck anything other than performance?

I have never delt with 64 bit OS's, drivers, and bios so basicly i am wanting to learn from everyone else's mistakes.

Just make sure that all your hardware has vista 64 bit drivers.

I would install vista 64 bit, as what's the point in installing XP 64 bit now? Plus, vista 64 will have more updates for your hardware than XP 64 will, I would think, as it is the future's operating system.

I love Vista 64. Although some programs and drivers might be a bit finicky right now, but work, it will be worth it in a couple months.

ya the upgrade is cheaper, and there is a method for installing a clean version of vista with the upgrade cd. but on a fresh install of xp, that wouldn't really be needed

Just get the oem copy? Price match it to Memory Express, because they have it, or had it last week anyway, for $140 for Home Premium, if thats the one you are going with.
