Hey Guys,

Just wondering if there are any good GYM's SE. I want to work out at lunch, and need to find a good Gym near my work. I went to visit the Golds in Northgate (Old Ikea Building), but it's quite expensive at $69/month.

Any other options?

$69 I believe is if you don't sign a contract... I'm pretty sure its only around 45-50 otherwise.

Depends where in the SE you are. I go to AI's Fitzone in Douglas Glen. It's cheap, clean, not usually busy, and easy to get to (right off Deerfoot).

Yeah I checked out Gold's in Northgate and the deal I got was $50 initiation fee and then $21 bi-weekly for 2 yrs or $100 initiation and $21 bi-weekly for 1 yr.
I also checked out Work Out World and they gave me a similar deal to Gold's just that if you don't sign up the first day they don't knock off anything for the initiation fee. Plus you gotta pay for a card fee which is stupid I think and that's $25. I believe the monthly rate for that place was $45. This is all for one year. I think 2 yr deal its $39 or something. I didn't like WOW I found it small but the equipment was not bad. They gave me a free trial for a day and I didn't like it at all. The free weight section was really small and they had mostly one thing of each equipment so you usually have to wait.

Right now..Norhgate Gold's Gym has a $1 membership fee I saw on a sign around the area. Prices must have changed for membership fees..when I signed up, a two year contract cost me $100 membership fee but I only pay $25 a month.

See that's what ticks me off... they always change their rates. First time I went to Nortgate Gold's, they told me it was $150 for a membership, and $40/month. I went in a wekk later and it was $100 membership, and $25 a month :banghead: :thumbsdow

I find Gold's to be quite hot like Talisman centre. :thumbsdow
Most likely going back to MRC which IMO is the best :D

I go to the Goodlife gym in Canyon Meadows, paid $250 initiation fee and a bi-weekly of $12. It was either that or $25 bi-weekly with $50 initiation.

Not sure what the rates are now though?

As for the gym itself, I like it. Downside is that it gets overly busy before and after dinner time.

Yeah, when they were building golds they had a super cheap preopening membership price for like $20/month no signup or something like that. But this was like 8 years ago or however long.
