A buddy of mine just replaced the thermostat in his 3.1 v6 sunbird, the water temp gauge use to go to half at the most, now it hits 3/4. Is that normal? its a winter thermostat 195 deg i think they said at autovalue?

Yeah, it's normal for a winter thermostat to do that, but it's also stupid to buy one in the first place. Why make the engine run hotter than it's optimal operating temperature?

aren't parts cheap to buy on an american car? And your buddy was even cheaper and bought at autovalue:thumbsdow

lol its a 94 sunbird, why spend top dollar:thumbsdow , and he replaced it because his heat wasnt working properly, it now works great but the engine temp just goes to 3/4 instead of the usual 1/2
