View Full Version : Buying audio equipment? Don't pay retail!

wrxer1
02-09-2007, 06:15 PM
I have bought most of my audio through the Visions SW location for my installs lately. Since I'm doing so much volume, I can now get cost or just above, on anything there.

Just a heads up for anyone buying audio equipment soon, shoot me a PM first.

EDIT: I've had a lot of people asking if I can still get discounts.
Yes, I'm still helping out all the beyonders. Just let me know what equipment you need along with any model numbers and i'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Oh, and I am in no way affiliated with Visions or making any money off this. Just want to give you guys a solid audio equipment connection.

It's still cheaper to buy online...

wrxer1
02-09-2007, 09:18 PM
I know where you're coming from with the online stuff, and at times you can get some good deals.
But mostly with shipping, packaging and the unknown brokerage fees, the price is right around the same, if not more than what I can get it for.
Plus, add the flexibility of returning or exchanging when something is defective. If you have been in this industry and installed as many systems as I have, one would really value a return policy!

hmm, what about alarm/starters? or is it strictly car audio?
pm me if ya want.

Well I can see that you're really just trying to help the community out, but ya know, online is really hard to beat, especially some companies, which have good return policies too.

one other benefit of this would be you do not have to wait for the item.

i would be interested but i do not think visions sell anything up to my quality expectations.

Let me check with my contact at Visions when he's back at work on Tues. I will then reply to all PM's and replies to this thread.

I hate the waiting game when shopping online or the worry factor of using my credit card over the web.

All PMs responded to.
For future inquiries, please provide a model number, this would really help me out.
I hope all the quotes have helped everyone out, keep them coming.

Hi there,

I'm looking to buy more of a sound level meter (or equivalent) that I got from Radioshack when I was in the States:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103667&cp=&sr=1&origkw=33-2055&kw=33-2055&parentPage=search

I'm in Vancouver, does anyone know any Canadian online stores that would sell this particular meter or something close?

Thanks.

Infinity 6012i 6.5" 2-way speakers?

Just 2 would be nice, I'll buy 4 if the price is really good.

Thanks

i agree good thing to do for the comunity
other thing is its not hard to get close to cost from places like visions if you know the industry

MrSector9
02-16-2007, 06:37 PM
as for the car comment, i do not see what is wrong with a well maintained/modded 92 maxima besides I do not see what a car has to do with what I want for sound quality.

I also still back what I said.. cheaper prices online but paying a lil more from this poster means you get it that day/night and will not have the chance of "getting ripped off"

I also still stand by my comment about what visisons sells..... sure it is better then some "gear" but by no means is it high quality stuff... unless maybe they have Alpine F1 status stuff but I imagine they do not regularly sell/stock this stuff.

Thanks.

The Liquidation World in south Calgary had a pile of RS clearance stuff recently, including SPL meters. You might want to try your local LW.

Also - the analog version of this meter is considered to be a better device. It is *much* easier to get a good reading vs. the digital version.

MrSector9
02-17-2007, 11:59 AM
also i remeber reading that while the RS analog version didn't read as but it was relatively accurate compared to both the TL mic and the RA mics, the DB level was off a few (same as RA compared to TL) but the numbers were very consistent.

never read anything about the other style.

MrSector9 mentions that Visions doesn't exactly sell high end audio equipment - you replied that he should update his profile since he drives a 92 Maxima.

I'm not sure how the two relate to each other - unless Visions now sells cars...

So yesterday, I sent wrxer1 a message saying how if he can get such huge discounts, why doesn't he just buy a bunch of items at cost and resell them to make a profit, here's his response
(hope you're ok with this Jeff)

"Hey James
Thanks for the suggestion. I have been installing for the beyond crowd for the last few years and built a solid rep through being honest and allowing starving students and people looking to save a buck to do exactly that.
I do appreciate your entrepreneurial spirit (I run my own company), but I mainly do this as I miss it as a full time job and is truly my passion.

What a guy, i've done 2 installs through him now and both are great. I just thought people should know this.

So you have a buddy that got you a corp account. Hopefully you are keeping tabs on who and how much you sell this stuff for. Because if the tax man comes around you may end up kicking yourself.

It is nice to see someone helping others out of the goodness of their heart. I was like that, now unless I'm making money on it I'm not interested.

No corp account. Just a connection with the right people.

Plus, I make a few dollars on either the installs or the custom boxes I build whenever someone buys a sub or two.

I'm also gonna vouch for Jeff and his work

After a grueling 4 weeks of postponing, finding small problems and busy schedules clashing, we're finally done.

I wanna give him a big thanks for doing this project and install, going around the city to find a damn fuse and coming over at my convenience to install it for me. In the end, it was all worth it!

it sounds amazing and looks amazing. +1 for Jeff!

there is a quick picture of the system that we set up.
the box is angled at about 30 degrees, he engraved the JL logo and put frosted plexi-glass in the back, the install is SUPER clean.. the wires aren't hanging all over the place. Anyways here it is:
