I just bought a Shaw HD PVR on Thursday.

The E-Bay ones are in fact cheap and when I called Shaw they said I could get it hooked up, but that they will not warranty it at all. On E-Bay they were 444.00 plus shipping. So a little over 500.00 in the end.

SoundsAround has them on sale right now for 600.00. This is the new one with the 160 GIG HD

Shaw is selling them for 750.00

Not a bad deal and that is where I bought mine from.

Are you referring to my post?

No I got it from SoundsAround..... E-Bay would have saved me MAYBE 100.00 and I would not get warranty with it and it would take a few weeks to get it.

For less than 100.00 in savings that is not worth it.

However once SoundsArounds sale is over they will be 750.00 again and then E-Bay is the better deal.

I just bought my DCT6200 (HD w/o PVR) on eBay for $293 CAD shipped here from Vancouver. I paid on Monday and it arrived on Thursday. Now I'm just waiting for Shaw to add it to their database before I can use it, which should take about two days. Retail from Shaw/BB/FS is $448 + GST.

I don't mind buying paying $182 less and forgoing the warranty. That said, I would NOT buy the DCT6416 (HD with PVR) without warranty since it's more prone to failures than the non-PVR unit.

I would be completely comfortable with buying a 6412III or 6416 of of of ebay, as long as it's not DOA, the most common thing that happens is the hard drive fails.... those can be replaced yourself.

I would only buy the 6412III or 6416, they have serial ata drives, AFAIK they are the only hdd's that can be replaced. They also have much better sd output than the 62xx series.
