I caught the hard to miss dark humor about religion and politics, but the movie isn't supposed to be taken literally. I like freaky movies and I loved that remake. I'm no different now from the point when I first saw the film. I don't really have nothing against organized religion, but want would they expect from a horror film these days?? Besides, every new movie pushes all the envelopes further and further.. no suprise there. It's just a movie. Stay safe, watch only Disney movies. :dunno:

When I went to the theater, I might add that nobody "walked out" as said in that review. In fact, all my friends liked the film. I also bought the unrated DVD and "it really does mess with your head".. not. :nut:

Not so. DO NOT watch Disney movies. Haven't you heard? Talking animals are the tools of the devil?!? Disney supports gay rights too... eeeeeeeevil. Or so the religious right would have you believe.

Yeah, I couldn't understand why someone would pay theater price and then walk out. I mean, what does that prove.. the person just stiffed themselves. As for the call-out, I take it that the person liked the remake and hated the original or they meant mocking the new directors. :dunno:
If the person was mocking Wes Craven, New Nightmare would have been appropriate.. that sucked badly. :barf:
