My DR said he can refer me but god its like a 2 month wait:banghead: Anyone know of any walk in clinics or special clinics where I can go in, pay and get the test? All I need is an allergy test.:( And how long does it take for results to come back?

It doesnt take long at all to get the results, but be happy 2 month wait time is actually pretty short to get in for allergy testing. And as far as I know you have to go to a specialist to get the tests done, BTW the tests SUCK!

Yep as far as I know there are only 1 or 2 places in Calgary. 2 month wait is actually quite short. If you end up going to the specialist by South Center don't miss your re-tests, she hates that! I don't mind the tests just like being pinched over and over on the forearm no big deal. Results are almost instant if you have a severe allergy, you sit in the clinic for half an hour and then you find out right away. You'll know as you're sitting there though, depending on your allergies your forerm will look like something like out of a horror movie.

I remember waiting much longer for Dr Bowen I believe it was. Be happy its only 2 months, theres maybe 1 or 2 small offices in Calgary that specialize in this.

Getting pinched with those sheets isnt too bad at all. I got them on my shoulder and back and it feels like someone rubbing velcro against your skin. But each prick tests something else, so if you react expect to be really itchy on the drive home.

For me, I was told to wait there for them to see which prick test patches reacted. He told me right then and there what I was allergic to, and what changes I had to make, and what meds to take. Just so you know, if over the counter stuff doesnt work, the next thing you usually get is a monthly allergy shot in the arm.

I'm going to see Dr. Tom Bowen next month. The earliest appointment they had was middle march when i phone in a week ago so only a month in advance about. I've had hives for 3+ months now, finally glad i'm going to find out what i'm allergic to. Oh yea and it costs $25.

Maybe you'll get lucky like me and eat a slice of kiwi-fruit (or whatever your allergen is) without knowing you were allergic and end up almost dying before you get to the hospital. Then you get into the allergen-testing specialist in no time flat!

The plus side to the whole allergic reaction thing is that I now know definitively that I do not look good with a huge swollen red tomato for a head.
