A BMW with FLIP-Up headlights?!!

I spotted one along 36th and memorial. It was a darker green color, and it had flip up head lights. i was stunned and didnt know bmws had flip up headlights. I couldn't catch the rear end to see what type of model it was but none the less it was a diffrent looking type of BMW.

then right after i spotted a red 944

well the tail lights looked like the 3-series. (older model) and it had bmw emblems on the front and on the rear. i couldn't catch the model because it went by quickly.

or he was a ricer.

its' an 850 something...i'm not sure what though. 850i rings a bell....yeah they do have the sharp angled front end and they are a pretty rare car i believe

I think the first batch of 8-series released to NA were only black and were 850i's.....The net ones were 840ci's and came in different colors...

They do have a V12 engine, it is extremely well balanced and smooth.

Unfortunately, the 8 series was a disaster for BMW. They tried to make this car the most technologically advanced at the time, and it came with a price tag that represented this. Low sales and no demand for a gas guzzling v12 ensured that this car was only sold a few years.

Personally, I don't really like it much - It was targeted for those with huge incomes, but sports cars are for the young :) Would have sold a lot better if it had been equipped with a more affordable I6 and targeted towards a younger crowd

My ex-gf's dad had a black 850i and it was a pretty damn nice car. I think it's got the right amount of sportiness for a bimer while still having some class. I seem to remember him telling me he was thinking about selling it for around $40 grand but I'm not sure if he ever went through with that.
