So I took this picture a few weeks ago while on my way out to my granparents house, and It's one of my favorite pictures.

It was taken with a Canon 30D w/ 18-55mm lens, Now I want to get this professionally printed off and framed and give it to my granparents as an anniversary gift. What should I do to have the picture prepped for printing, and who should I go talk to, to have it printed off?

Original Image size:

3504x2336 pixels
48.667" x 32.444"

Thanks in advance :D

Depending what budget you're looking at.
You could do it at Superstore.
On the other hand, if you're really looking for something professional, all the way, try black's photography.

it should cost 40-60$ for that dimension.
btw do you have that pic in color or just in sepia?

just sepia unfortunately as thats what i was shooting in, btw that pic was taken at about 80km/h, through the glass in my truck lol.

Im not worried about a budget, I just want a really large scale picture maybe 30-35" in width, ill have it framed when its all printed out,

Is there anything i should do in order to prep the picture before printing, i removed the 2 dust spots in it, that are above already, but what else should i do?

I adjusted mine, its 48" 20.4" looks alot better. thanks city hunter for the scaling ;)

I think im gonna go to the frame store tomorrow to figure out what they have for general frame sizes and base my picture from that as i dont want to be spending hundreds of dollars on a custom frame. but i hope to have the image between 30-35" in width so do u think blacks will be able to handle an image that size or what?

Try using a healing tool to get rid of that smudge right in the middle of the picture, I can't help but find it distracting. Otherwise the shot turned out well.

that was the original image that had the smudge, the new one i did doesnt have anything like that, here it is

Great shot, especially for having been taken in a moving vehicle.

ok so blacks is printing it off, i brightened it up a bit when i got there, for a 28 x 11 photo it was like 30$, it will take up to 2 weeks to be printed off, and a basic brushed aluminum frame cost me 110$ with matting, and glass.

What takes them so long? I'm curious because I have a few I want to print off as big as I can.

On another note, anyone know how big I can print a perfectly focused picture from a D80 without any noticeable loss in quality? The guy at Vistek told me 4 feet by 3 feet but I have no idea if he knew what he was talking about or not.

Thanks!

Thanks for the link!

So a picture from my D80 can only be blown up to 8 X 13"? I thought it would be way better than that.

8*13 @ True photo quality which is pretty good.
if you cheat(various way), it can be blown up to 12.96*19.36 with acceptable quality..:D however if you want more details on your blown up photos, get a better glass:thumbsup:

That chart really only applies to P&S's and does not take sensor size into account. Nor does it account for any dpi under 300. (A huge print, for normal viewing distances, is usually only 70-80dpi.) Your D80, backed up with good glass and technique, should be printable up to 24X36 with some massaging in Photoshop. That chart says my camera should only make up to a 6.5"X10" "full photo quality" print, which is bunk, as I've done 8X12's and know I can go bigger.

anyone care about the rule of thirds? i would same dont make the sky the same amount of space as the ground but instead one third of the pic

the guy at blacks and i kinda tweaked it a bit when we were there so its a bit more scaled properly with teh 1/3 rule and everything.
