Hello all,

I ebay'ed a deck a while ago, and i just recieved it, its a SONY CDX M850MP

http://uk.shopping.com/xPF-Sony-CDX-M850MP

I installed the deck (cost me around 150), and i find out that the deck needs some sort of code to work. I emailed the guy that i bought the deck from, and got no response, so i called him (lives in the US) and he essentially told me to fuck off saying that the item was sent as represented in the auction page.

what should i do?

i found the above site, but i smell bull shit, looks like a scam to me, is there anyway i can bypass this code?

i did some reaserch on other forums and it seems like other people who don't have their codes for various reasons (some legit, others not) have gotten no help from sony, after all whats the point of security code, if sony will just hand it over to you?

1.Call Sony and explain situation. It can't hurt to try.
2.I will keep an eye out for a possible solution. If you wish, pm your # number and i'll let you know if/when i find something that might work.

put in a request for refund on paypal, you were told you were buying a functioning deck, that was inaccurate.

take it to a radio install shop they should be able to get the code for you... like autotemp has a radio repair tech that should be able to get a code for it. 250-8677

Since in your profile it states you are from Edmonton, give 'Stereo City Service' (something to that nature) a try, they are on the southside, and may be able to get a code for you.

UPDATE:

(for those of you who give a shit  )

I called up sony and they told me that the codes for these decks are picked by the first owner, and there is no override code.

so i spent a few minutes guessing codes, and finally struck gold with 00009999!

Thanks for the help all!
