anyone done this, and what costs are involved at the border?

Found a set of wheels that I like (Enkei Evo6), the cost up here is around $240-$250 a wheel, while down in the states I've found as low as $160usd a wheel, which works out to around $190cd.

So really as long as the shipping costs aren't too high and nothing extra other than GST is tacked on at the border, it should work fine.

not sure how much with USPS would cost, but expect to pay as much or even more if they ship via ups. weight + taxes

With the price that close I would buy them in town, See if you can negotiate the price a little bit.

only problem is that it seems that less people up here have the bolt pattern I'm looking for (5x112). So far all my research is online, but only one Canadian site even carries that bolt pattern.

No idea in town though, what shops here would carry Enkei wheels?

Expect to pay about $80 US for freight and about $200 in duty. Add it up and figure out if it works for you.

Not sure on the size you are looking for but 1010 tires has them on their site, get a package deal and no cost for shipping

Where did you get $200 from? Check UPS's guide from brokerage and duty fees, if the rims are only 800 bucks he's looking at 80 bucks duty not 200....

Bigwheelz (www.bigwheelz.com)

Talk to Harry there. He carries Enkei, and might be able to get what you need. He's also local.

so around $300 for shipping/duty/misc border stuff?

I can get these wheels from Tiretrends in Canada with the proper bolt pattern for $1,072.51 with shipping and around the same shipping from the states with the added charges.

Probably stay Canadian then.

See this thread - http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141669

worth it if you are picking up a few things.

(still have to pay duty if made outside NA and GST but no brokerage).
