What is the legality of having a strip of tint on top of a car's windshield?

I am getting the three back windows done (as far as I know, any shade is fine on those) but am unsure what is the deal with the top of a windshield.

PS. No, I am not getting this done:

Im pretty sure its legal as long as it doesnt come down more than 1/4 of the windshield.

Alot of the older cars used to come with the factory tint up there and it was legal.

In Alberta, you are allowed to add film tint to the windshield up to 15cm from the top. Reflective tint is not allowed.
