(Stolen from the vortex)
How old are you going to be when you own your dream car (Ferrari, Porsche, whatever).
For of those of you who already own your/a dream car, how old were you when you bought it and what is it?

For me, my goal is to have a Porsche 993 before I'm 30. So far so good

Its not exactly something everyone here might dream about. But I've wanted a Mustang GT since I first got my license. I'm on my 4th mustang now. But I bought my first GT at 21 it was a 2002 GT convertible. I then traded that in for a newer one - 2005 GT Coupe at 23. Now I'm pretty happy with this one, and I think I'll hang onto it for some time now. Its a pretty small dream (compared to whats out there for choices) but its a realistic goal for myself and I feel like I've accomplished it.

I've got a company truck right now as well, but I'm thinking about buying another car now in a few years. Its definitely going to be a daily driver, something i can use year round. Rain or Snow and I'm leaning towards a subaru. The mustang will always have a place in my garage though. Its definitely a fun toy.

Good thread

F430 - silver
F575 - black
Lambo Diablo 6.0 - silver

Late 20s/Early 30s is my goal to have one of those.

Our old neighbours kid is in his early 30's, owns his own company, nice house, $$$ and is on the list for a Gallardo Spider.

It can be done with hard work and a little bit of luck.

My dream car is the Ariel Atom 2 :P

I plan on having one (even if it's track only) by 35. For actual realistic everyday dream car, I would love to own an S2000 before I'm 35 as well, or an NSX before 40.

Not too hard if you buy a house early in life and keep it for 10 or so years then take out a massive loan or line of credit agaisnt the equity to buy your dream car. Poor investment move but great life move:D

At 16 my dream car was a 300zx. I achieved that dream at 18. Now my next dream car is the EvoX. I'll probably achieve that in about 2 years. By the time I'm 25-30 I want to own the latest version of the Z06 (I'm sure it'll be better than the current one...although I have no idea how they're going to improve it. It's amazing as it is).

So I guess I have somewhat realistic dreams. However, my ultimate dream would be to have a Lamborghini Murcielago in my garage one day. To me, out of all the cars I've ever seen/heard of, nothing has ever impacted me as match as that beast. Probably only by the time I'm like 60 or maybe never lol.

I'll probably have a 5 car garage built into or next to my house. Whether the lambo will be there or not is another story lol.

I love the SLR, but being realistic even if I had the money I wouldn't part with it. Im 26 now, but I'll probably aim for a porsche GT3 someday way down the road, maybe 50ish. Depends what is available in 24 years from now.

Pagani Zonda, I'll probably need a house in the states to register it here. Graduate law school when I'm around 29 or so if all goes to plan, I figure i'll afford it at 37 or so. I have a great car now, I need a house and comfortable living before I waste money on a car, so we'll see what happens. I can live happily with my current car for awhile though

but i've dreamed of owning an integra 11 (1999), in 2006 (18) I purchased a 2000 gs-r, which as of last week is completely payed off, i think thats prety good 15grand in less than 6months.

so im only 18, but at 25, i hope ill be in something very classy.

I'm currently 23 and I will never be able to afford my dream cars unless theres some sort of miracle. Here are mine.
A 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO (39 produced, all supposedly running still and a minimum of $10 Mil to even consider buying) and a Nissan R390 GT1 ($1 Mil original price tag, very limited production with most in museums).

However, something more reasonable like a 997 Porsche 911 TT/Aston Martin V8 Vantage I should be able to do by the time I'm 27.... if I want to sell off my properties and eat instant noodles for awhile. haha.

I'd honestly be happy enough with an AWD Infiniti G35 and a nice little track/street monster in the garage... maybe a 2004/5 Jag XKR coupe as well. haha

My dream car was an E36 M3.. bought it in my early 20s. Funny thing about setting goals is that they should not necessarily be realistic, it is more fun that way.

I think some people underestimate how much money you need to buy some of these crazy cars (the income necessary to support a 500k car is staggering).. I know lots of lawyers and doctors, and not one of them could come anywhere near affording a crazy exotic in their early 30s, but it is always great to set your sights high.

Well I don't know too much about the car other than the advertised 600hp and 700ft.llbs torque and something about a chip and minor grades easily boosting those numbers higher. haha ;)

It'll probably be a Porsche though whenever I can afford it lol, the SL series cars don't really suit me anyway.

I once thought as you did...

The debt you accumulate can almost buy your Ferrari. If you want your Ferrari, MBZ or Porsche, plan on specializing and don't get married.

Your wife will want 2 things that will result in your dreams of a sweet ride going up in flames:

1. Offspring
2. A big house for your offspring

Haha, don't despair, man. Just be celibate and everything will go according to plan.

When I was 12, I wanted a Lambo Countach... shows you how old I am. As I got older and started making money and understanding the value of money, my sights started to get more realistic.

I agree that you should set you sights high, but realism is refreshing too.

Unless I have 5-6 million in the bank, I don't think I could justify more than $150K for a car. I would rather buy another house or commercial property. Hell, I would rather gamble it on a stock.

One thing about owning a super nice car is that you won't want to drive it anywhere. Somebody will key it, somebody will dent it when opening their door, etc...

3 years ago, I was working superhard and had my sights set on a F430. Then I found out how much interest I would be paying on my house for a $300K mortgage... After 5 years, you can buy a Z06 will the interest you pay... Paying down the house seemed like a smarter idea... haha

That being said, one day I will own a 911 Turbo. It will probably be used, cause I am over the new car thing.

My realistic goal, a Porsche 993 (not sure on Targa or AWD Turbo) in black, with the newest porsche rims and a brake upgrade, will get one when I decide its time, right now I have other goals that have priority, so prolly in about 3 years I will get one.

Slightly higher goal, a TVR Sagaris, or Porsche 997 Turbo.

My unrealistic goal, a Bugatti Veyron, mainly since there will probably never be a car like it again.

Come read this post in 10 years when you are 30. You will understand what I am talking about.

I am not saying not to have fun or don't have any dreams, but life has a way of changing your dreams.

If you want a car like that, I say go for it. But do it before you get married or have kids or buy a house. Once those come into play, your priorities will change drastically.

haha, sorry to poop on the party.

I think all my life I will always opt for the 'drop 50g on a 50g car' route.

1. Offspring
2. A big house for your offspring

Haha, don't despair, man. Just be celibate and everything will go according to plan.

I was just waiting for you to post in this thread hahaha...when I wrote that post I was actually thinking of your situation. It got me thinking about whether or not my dreams were realistic or not. 1st year is not even done and expenses are nearing the $25g USD mark.

All I want is to own a Ferrari some day (before 50 would be nice). I think realistically I can do it during my 40's.

Porsche 911 during 30's for surezzzzzzzz though yo. :D
After killin myself through all of this bullshit that will be my reward. The kids can wear no-name bargain clothes for a couple years to help fund my dream hahahahah.

Oh and werd to the used car buying, I'm never ever ever buying a brand new car. F that.

And yes, I want to see how everyone is doing on achieving their "dream car" 10 years from now.

My 'dream' car is going to have to wait a while. Mortgage on new house > Go fast car.

You're right, and I agree. I bought some crazy cars, and I just got bored with them after a while. I can guarantee I got my money's worth though. I am probably going to go to move towards something more reasonable.

Reminds me of something from Microserfs about kids at Microsoft getting Ferraris at 27 and a Lexus at 30.

By the time you are in the real world for a while, you realize a nice 3 Series is about as much as any reasonable person could justify (not that I'm reasonable). Plus they are 90% as good as anything available.

That's a good question - I'd have to say my car-goal is to buy a used Jaguar XJR or XKR a few years after I've finished University. To heck with new cars, I've got a mortgage to pay - which is a goal in itself.

It appears that everyone on here is either stupidly rich, or they are too young and still live at home so they have no idea what "living expenses" are. If this was a MENSA forum...then yes, I could see all of these dreams coming true. But it is a car forum and I highly highly doubt everyone is rolling in over 100k a year. And that isn't nearly enough to be able to afford cars like lambos and ferarri's....

I'm probably on the younger end of the forum, but I just bought a brand new house (built a new one through Morrison).

He who "works his balls off" reaps the rewards. Having written goals actually helps me focus on what I want in life and how to achieve them.

Didn't say some people aren't rich...but according to this thread 95% of the people will own a lambo or equally expensive car

Well said. 911 Turbo FTW. Ultimate Daily Driver haha :bigpimp:

This thread reminds me of what my old buddies were telling me at highschool graduation, some of them are doing well, majority are just trying to get by.

Dare to dream. Take advantage of your opportunities and get incredibly lucky :D
