I have Vista Home Premium (OEM) upgrade, but I sold my PC already and went Mac. Unopened/unactivated.

Does anyone want it?

I would like to trade for a black DS, iPod or something of equal value.

$120 or so?

Why didn't you pm me? $80 is too low.

I will wait a bit longer. No rush.

do you need to actually have xp installed before you can use this? or can you do a fresh install if you have the xp cd?

Yeah you are supposed to, but there is a trick where you install Vista without entering the serial. This makes it a trial install. You then reinstall properly and enter the serial. This gives you a nice clean install, which is better than upgrading.

OEM, no fancy box, about 1000 less drivers. :)
You've bought this?

<--The problem for me with OEM (Who cares about a fancy box) is that it will be forever tied to the motherboard on the PC you install it on. So for someone who upgrades/tinkers with a lot of parts its not much good as MS will not reactivate you once you change your mobo, Retail however is forever transferable.

Good point. Maybe I should just keep it.

You get no transfer rights w/ the OEM version (it's in the EULA).

However if your key stops working all together after you replace the motherboard, you can call into their activations line to obtain a new license. They will ask you a series of question to prove that 1) this is still the same computer as the you originally installed it on but with new components, and 2) you are still the original owner of the software.

You pretty much have to tell them that your motherboard died and you replaced it.

Or you can just call them and say that it wont install and they give you a new key.

I love how this was made into some kinda doomed copy of windows that could not be sold, lol.
