I'm looking at a getting a new car. Between $22,000- 25,000. Biggest concern is reliability. I'm thinking about the Toyota Matrix. Anyone have any opinions on Toyota's reliability? Also, just wondering about Mitsubishi's track record for reliability. I know that sometimes it's just luck, but I just wanted hear about other people's experiences.

get the sir... you can get them for ~24-25 tax in right now i believe. not bad if you want the convenience of a hatch...
get a toyota, and you'll be OK. As for the Matrix, not my kinda car, but its your choice in the end.

Protege 5 is better choice IMO. It has way more style than the matrix!!! It should be pretty reliable too!!!

i think the Matrix is a pretty good car, its not too fast but everything else about it is pretty good, and should be pretty reliable too

You can't go wrong with Toyota/ Nissan.
I also really like the mazda proteges.... super nice cars.
You could get a base RSX for that money too. I am sure that corrola/ sentra/ civic also fall into your price range.
Or you could buy two cavaliers and have a spare car for when the first one shits the bed...;)

Long time Toyota customer, I must say they have proven themselves to me as being reliable. Heck, my family still has 2 Corolla's at home. The matrix isn't bad.... same engine as the Corolla, or you can go the for XRS which has the same engine and everything from the Celica GTS :)
