Anybody know or heard of any condos sinking in downtown because of being too close to the bow river? I heard that the Marquis and Riverwest Towers (barclay & mcleod) made by BOSA developers were sinking.
They are the condos on 6TH AVE SW.

Anybody know or have any info??????

I hadn't heard about it, but I suppose its quite possible, if the contractor didn't properly prepare the subgrade, or there is water coming to the surface there.

Ummm..this isn't Vancouver and the developers with projects on the river are all high end reputable builders. There is no such thing as sinking condos in Calgary. Trust me. BOSA is not a fly by night operation that would overlook such major concerns

Most of the Glen eagles product, although nicely finished aesthetically are done by shitty developers who are in it for a quick buck...most, not all...

I'd better look into that. I'm supposed to list (or co-list) a 2600 Sq. ft. condo in the Marquis later on this week :nut: And its not going to be chump change either :bigpimp:

The sinking condos are the Discovery pointe on 6th ave and 11 st s.w.
I know this for a fact because i live in the building and my Brother inlaws company is the one that came in and reinforced the concrete pillars in the basement.
Some of the drain pipes are bent on the one side of the building.
Apparently the building sunk 6 inches due to poor construction so i was told, if you think about it how come none of the other building which are closer to the river have no problems.
I hope this helps

Not sure, just yesterday one of the pipes on the lower parking level burst. I even joked to my Husband that the building probably sunk again.
We asked if we should move our truck.
About 6 months ago we were asked to move it because the water was flowing pretty fast up thur the sump pump, and that only took about 2 weeks to fix.
I was also told by an employee of Boso that while people were living in the building they were still building the 25th floor, this building has 27 floors.
Thank God we will be out of here soon.
